Dr. Sarita T. Lyons who is affectionately called “Dr. Sarita” is a psychotherapist and highly sought after speaker and trainer specializing in individual, couples and family psychotherapy. She maintains a private practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is the founder and CEO of Uplifting People Services, Inc.
In addition to her private practice, Dr. Lyons is an adjunct professor at Drexel University’s College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist, Dr. Sarita earned a J.D. from Villanova School of Law and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Drexel University’s Law and Psychology program (specializing in law and forensic and clinical psychology). With her diverse educational background and expertise, she is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients.
Among her counseling specializations are depression and anxiety, trauma recovery, addictions, couples therapy, work and career counseling, and relationship building and reconciliation. Dr. Lyons has worked as a therapist in multiple mental health treatment settings such as a college counseling center, outpatient community behavioral health center, adult and adolescent drug and alcohol treatment facility, juvenile detention center, medical and psychiatric hospital, and the School District of Philadelphia as a contracted therapist.
Dr. Lyons was the first African American woman Board Member for the Amnion Crisis Pregnancy Center where she served as Vice-President.
